Faux-Winter

January 27, 2012

in Nature, Running

Well, last night we got a little bit of snow. It’s covering the grass right now, but who can say what’ll happen later on? It’s supposed to be a high of 37 today.

For the first time in a while I ran four days in a row this week, culminating in a three-miler yesterday in a misting rain. I didn’t really want to go, but I couldn’t resist the wonderful clear sidewalks. I feared wasting those sidewalks even though we’ve only had snow for about two days this entire winter.

I also got an email this week about registration for the 2012 Chicago Marathon. Oh, man. It was not that long ago that I did the 2011 Chicago Marathon. I can’t believe it’s already time to sign up for the 2012 one. (Don’t get any ideas. I’m not going to). It’s also bizarre that February 1 is so close.

I might not be signing up for Chicago 2012, but I can’t say that marathons aren’t on my mind. This probably has a lot to do with this song I just found by Yellow Ostrich, entitled Marathon Runner. Spin has a download.

his weekend I have plans for another long run, and that’s really it. It’s becoming a fun guessing game: will I have to slog through the snow or will the sidewalks be completely dry?

I’ll let you know how it goes on the flip side!
